Elopement at Finkles Shore Park, near Bath - food truck, cupcakes, and comedy for Ren & Dan
Ren and Dan’s wedding was so unique, and a perfectly quirky elopement at Finkles Shore Park, near Bath.
Ren and Dan are not sentimental types. They love each other deeply, and have a very cool story!
They actually went to high school together, but after that they lost touch and went their separate ways.
Years later, he friend-requested her on Facebook. She messaged him and the conversation went from there. Soon after that, they met in person, and have been together ever since!
Dan lived in the US so they did long distance for a little over a year. But he moved home last December.
They’re super sweet together. They have the kind of mature love you’d normally expect from people who have been together for a really long time! She even wears his underwear! (I’ll admit, I’ve been known to do the same; men’s undies are just so much more comfortable. No judging!)
Anyway, I knew these two were awesome from the moment our consultation started.. We laughed so hard my cheeks hurt after.
So yeah, their wedding day was going to be just as quirky, funny, and unique as they are.
Ren wore a deep burgundy dress, and Dan wore dress pants and a shirt with suspenders and a bowtie.
Ren’s sons matched Dan’s outfit. The three boys helped each other get ready, while Ren was at her Mother’s place, nearby.
We took “getting ready” photos at both places, and shortly after - we headed for the venue.
Finkles Shore Park is an outdoor space with a beautiful tall gazebo, and huge lawns, near the village of Bath.
Oh, and there’s a food truck (Fryway 33) where you can get a burger & fries, or fish & chips. (They have a vegetarian burger option, for those folks like me who prefer to stay plant-based).
Ren and Dan wanted to make their wedding super easy for everyone, so Fryway 33 was the perfect place to grab some grub post-ceremony.
The ceremony itself was short and sweet.
I grabbed my trademark shot of “below-the-hands-during-ring-exchange”.
We did take a few moments to get some family photos, and of course a photo of all the guests (since it was a very small group). There was a fallen tree that made for the perfect perch for this big group shot.
I know that I’ve talked about this before but: group shots can be super fun and funny to look back on! Definitely take the 30 seconds or so it takes to get a group shot, even if you’ve got a fair number of guests. They’re also just fun to take! haha.
Everyone ate, laughed, and celebrated!
Back at the gazebo, there were delicious cupcakes in burgundy to match Ren’s dress.
Then Ren and Dan made a kind of impromptu speech-turned-comedy-special.
They both have a great sense of humour, and I snapped away for almost an hour while they entertained everyone, making us laugh until dusk set.
Once it got dark, it was time to leave. I grabbed a couple of slow-shutter photos (you know, with those twirly lights in the background), and my favourite shot of the day: Ren and Dan, happily married, kissing each other just before getting into the car.
