Viara | she/her

(founder & chief photographer)

Viara has a PhD in human behaviour, specializing in studying human behavioural dynamics. This means she’s really experienced at catching small, important moments between people. The magic of human life is contained in those moments.

Viara believes that before the beautiful photographs can happen, people need to feel comfortable and at ease. She has a great way of making couples and guests feel super comfortable.

Viara lives with her husband, 3 kids, 3 cats, 2 dogs, 30 sheep, and donkey in a rural property just outside Kingston, Ontario.

(associate photographer)

Kaylan has been a nurse for eight years. Her background in a caring profession helps her to make easy and meaningful connections with people wherever she goes. She loves photographing weddings for the vibrant energy a day about love brings!

Her goal in picture taking is to pause time and make images you identify with—the ones you want to hang in your home as a reminder of how you belong to your life. Her photos remind you of how it feels to be heard and seen well.

Kaylan lives in Tamworth, Ontario with a dear friend, two dogs, and three horses. She loves them and all other creatures, great and small!

Casey | she/her

(marketing & design expert + 2nd shooter & videographer)

Casey graduated from the Advertising and Marketing program at St. Lawrence college. As an entrepreneur, she helps local Kingston & area businesses in all departments of creative content.

She is a fabulous part of the Quirky Love team, and makes all sorts of complicated design projects seem easy.

She designs all the beautiful client photo albums and wall art, making their memories and family legacies accessible and beautiful.

She also takes care of making the website pretty, which… is a bonus for all. She does market research like a boss, making clients feel immediately heard.

Casey can be found wining and dining downtown Kingston or rewatching Friends episodes for the 11th time at home cuddled up with her dog Mia.

Joanna | she/her

(associate photographer)

Hi, my name is Joanna, and I am so excited to be your second photographer for your special day!

Ever since I can remember, photography has been a huge hobby of mine. I even had the chance a few years ago to work as a photography manager for a media service at Queen’s University, where I captured candid moments of sports, formals, and student life.

Outside of photography, I recently completed my PhD in Neuroscience, which is incidentally how I met Viara: she was taking photos for our department and we got to talking :)

Since then, we’ve worked together at weddings, and every event has been a blast. My goal is to help capture your wedding in the realest and most meaningful way. I cannot wait to meet you

Rochelle | she/her

(studio manager & customer service whiz)

Rochelle is a North Carolinian.

|noun, north car.o.lin.ian

|someone who resides in North Carolina, USA.

For the past 6 years Rochelle has led a global online support team and created high-end concierge services for online entrepreneurs. She brings an outstanding level of customer service wherever she is!

When she is not assisting those around the world providing an exceptional customer experience, you can find her ‘introverted’ around her homebase. Enjoyments include playing board games and cards with the family and exploring new local areas . . accidentally-on purpose.

Prachi | she/her

(Business Support Expert)

Prachi pursued her degree in Masters of Business Administration. She is an expert in handling business operations. With over 7 years experience in this field, she has accomplished trust and respect for her outstanding work. She loves her work and is always willing to make clients happy.

She assists Viara at Quirky Love Photography and is the one handling operations behind the scenes.

Over the weekend Prachi can be found in her studio where she creates beautiful artwork.

Xaine | she/her

(blogger & idea-generator)

Xaine is a Scots-Canadian, who spent her childhood traveling between the West coast of Scotland and Africa. Needless to say, Xaine loves to travel while exploring new cultures & food. If she can do all that on horseback, all the better (yes I'm looking at you Iceland)!

After working in the music business for a decade, Xaine moved to Toronto and earned a Masters in invertebrate endocrinology (fun fact - she maintained colonies of Madagascan hissing cockroaches and flesh flies), while training for her black belt in taekwondo. Since then Xaine has worked primarily in marketing, project management & business development; however as a multipotentialite she is constantly learning new skills.

On the weekends Xaine could be hiking, cooking, riding a rollercoaster, paddleboarding, visiting a new city, biking, trying a new restaurant, hanging with friends, or napping with her puppy.

Liz | she/her

(co-founder, photographer, blogger)

Liz is a photographer & marketer. Photography has been in her life since for as long as she can remember and even though her life has taken twists and turns, it will always be there with her when she needs it.

Three fun facts about Liz:

She lived in the state of Virginia for two years as a kid and had a teacher from South Carolina - so for a period of time she spoke with a southern accent.

She’s the only one in her family who was born in Canada; her mum, dad, and sister were all born in different countries.

She is aggressively anti-diet culture and is working hard to spread the word. Drop her a line if you want to hear more :)

Three professional facts about Liz:

She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Ryerson University

She has a day job as a professional marketing coordinator with a strong focus on social media and copywriting.

She loves writing marketing copy. She loves the challenge of being funny, concise, but also purposeful in what is often a short amount of space.

We are queer-positive and queer allies. Some of us identify as queer. We fully support and embrace all folks who love each other and want to celebrate that love through images. It’s high time queer love is celebrated the way it should be. ❤️

A little about our typical Quirky Love Clients:

  • They are cool human beings. Usually, they are either nerdy, or artsy, or both (like us!)

  • They’re far less interested in following trends than having a wedding day that’s feels true and real to them

  • They’re actually quite picky when it comes to wedding photography. It has to speak to them

  • They want to genuinely enjoy their wedding day with their family & friends. They’re into having a good timeline and a plan, and are open to working with the photographer and/or planner to optimise this.

Our suggestions for finding a wedding photographer:

  • Meet with at least three photographers whose photographic STYLE you love

  • Don’t be afraid to ask them as many questions as you can think of. Not only to see if they have the right answers, but also to gauge their personality

  • Trust your intuition - your photographer should be someone who makes you feel no awkwardness or stress
