Prince Edward County Wedding in Summer under a big tree & a tent 🎉 Britni and Andrew: a tale of young love

A note about Prince Edward County (PEC): Prince Edward County is a gorgeous place, full of beautiful little spots to get married. It’s a nice hour drive East of Toronto, so it gives urban folks a chance to escape to nature for their big day. Lake Shore Lodge is smack dab in the middle of Prince Edward County, and it is a gorgeous green space right next to the beach. This means you can have that epic green ceremony under a big tree, then pop off to the shore for beautiful couple’s photos. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch some monarch butterflies flitting by, too! 🦋

Britni first emailed me about photographing her wedding nearly two years before her and Andrew got hitched. She said she was “pretty obsessed” with our approach to photography, and when someone says that to you, it can go one of two ways: You can either swell up in the head a little bit, or you can think, “shit, I’d better deliver some epic stuff on this one”…

It’s a huge compliment, but it makes me want to buckle down and work three times harder to make sure I’m measuring up to the high bar.

Britni and Andy FELL IN LOVE IN GRADE NINE!

So yeah, Brit and Andy met and started dating in Grade 9. I absolutely ADORE this fact. In a world so obsessed with becoming ‘mature’ before trusting your heart, It’s super refreshing to see that two people can fall in love young, and keep that love ALIVE! And these two have kept it alive big time. They’re SMITTEN with each other.

After a long series of emails, I met Brit and Andy at Kingston Coffee House just a month or two before their wedding, to chat about the final plans. (Which is where I first realized how smitten they were with each other) Britni has the most beautiful eyes, so I naturally blurted this out. Actually I said something like, “OMG your eyes are gorgeous, I can already imagine all the photos I’m going to take of them…” Yup. Like a COMPLETE CREEPER. Thankfully, they only smiled kindly at my awkwardness.

Their wedding was beautiful in every way, on a late August sunshiny day.

Brit got ready in her house with lots of help from her sisters, mother, and friends. There was a lot of stunning people there… I don’t want to say it was EASY to get beautiful photos, but… when you’ve got that kind of subject matter, you’d have to be a fool to muck up the photos.

The ceremony was at Lake Shore Lodge, in Prince Edward County. Picture perfect. Under a HUUGE gorgeous tree.

In the beautiful light under that wise old tree, Brit seemed to GLOW. Andy was beaming, giant smile on his face nearly the whole time (the rest of the time, he was trying to hold back tears).

Beneath each chair of the wedding party was a can of Prince Eddy’s C.R.E.A.M. Ale, so that everyone could cheers & chug after the ceremony. I chased a butterfly because Brit’s mother had told me it was Britni’s grandmother come to witness the ceremony.

We did some group photos after that, then everyone headed for the tent reception in the back yard of Andy’s father.

There’s some weddings where everything is just RIGHT.

You know - things just sometimes all align to give the perfect atmosphere. This was one of those occasions. The people, the venue, the weather… it was just so flawless and such a pleasure to photograph.

People milled around, ate (delicious catering by Tulips and Maple), drank, and rejoiced.

Brit’s sisters performed an original hip-hop song for her. Andy’s sisters MCed, wihle his twin brother gave an awesome speech. Andy and his mom surprised everyone with the first dance that turned into a swing number. There were happy tears shed, lots of laughter, ping-pong, popcorn, SO MUCH STUFF YOU GUYS!

Cardi B blasted through the speakers during the dance party. DJ Dave kept the party going. And EVERYONE scoffed their faces on delicious donuts and cake by Brit’s sister, master cakemaker, Meagan (of Butterdream Cakes).

I could write a novel about this day, but luckily I can spare you further ramblings of mine by sharing some photographs.

I hope you enjoy! (Included WAY more photos than you’re supposed to include in a blog, because I just loved so many of them!)

To watch the slideshow I made for them (which has music and is DEFINITELY better with THE SOUND ON), just scroll to the bottom of the photo gallery!

Big thanks to Kristy Murphy for taking photos of the guys getting ready while I was with Brit. 😍
